Welcome to The Ontario Traditional Music Library. Please take a few minutes and browse. We've got our initial entries uploaded, and are adding more on a regular basis. Each entry includes some or all of the following elements: Sheet music, MIDI files, PDFs, abc notations, Background information on the music, Photos or illustrations, Links to recorded music samples, Links to performances on Youtube.
The sheet music is in the form of JPGs. To print them just save them to your own computer first. Some tunes also appear as PDFs that can be downloaded.
We just uploaded a delightful couple of dozen tunes from the Ash, and Buttrey Manuscripts played on fiddle by Saskia Tomkins. Teilhard Frost and Anne Lederman have taken on some of the music from the Bennett and Hayes Collections. We also have sound files of other pieces from Cotillion, Shane Cook, Ian Robb, Muddy York, Ian Bell and even Oliver Schroer! Thanks to Will Macaulay we a abc notions for some of the Allan Ash tunes.
SEARCH BY SUBJECT OR COLLECTION Click the main subject headings towards the bottom of the page (where the little pictures are) OR Select from the dropdown subject menu and click "Search Library". Note: there are more different subjects on this list than on the page
SEARCH BY ERA OR LOCALE Pick from the dropdown menus and click "Search Library" Note: "Era" is generally intended to suggest the era of a song or tune's initial creation. HOWEVER - It sometimes refers to the date the song or tune was recorded. (I've tried to indicate in the notes of each entry which of those it is)
SEARCH BY TITLE OR KEYWORD Type title or keyword into box and click "Search Library" All titles are entered without the word "The" at the beginning KEYWORDS ARE CASE SENSITIVE - try it with both a capital and lower case first letter just to make sure!
Finally - FYI, A "Camboose" is a lumbermen's bunk house. Everyone's been asking
Have fun!
