The "Upper Canada Hymn Book" was a words-only hymnbook created by John Collver, an early settler of the Long Point Settlement. He wrote all the lyrics and had the book printed in St. Catharines in 1828. I set the words to the 18th century fugueing tune "Lenox" by Lewis Edson. (It appears in many early 19th century singing school books) I found a copy of Collver's book in the collection of the Eva Brook Donly Museum in Simcoe in the early 1980s. It is sung here by Prof. Chalaupka's Celebrated Singing School. (Recorded in 1995)
