A song composed by Mac Beattie about the terrible train collision that occurred in Almonte on December 27, 1942. It appears on his 1965 lp "This Ottawa Valley of Mine". Mac Beattie (1916-1982) was a songwriter and bandleader from Arnprior, Ontario. His band "Mac Beattie & the Ottawa Valley Melodiers" included fiddler Reg Hill. Mac was the drummer. In his youth he was a celebrated goalie on local hockey teams. There are lots of other Mac Beattie songs available on YouTube.
